vela® Surgical Thulium Laser System

The vela® Surgical Thulium Laser System is StarMedTec's latest pioneering development in the field of medical equipment. Operating continuous-wave at 1.9µm, the 50W system allows stunning results in a range of surgical applications.

The optimised wavelength of 1.9µm matches a peak in the absorption spectrum of tissue (~6 times higher absorption than at 2.1µm) and yet can still be delivered through standard optical fibres. Coupled with the high power, this allows highly efficient application with maximum precision and control. Procedures such as laser enucleation or laser resection of the prostate gland (BPS) and a variety of open or laparoscopic surgical procedures in general surgery all become more generally achievable, with significant improvements in the likelihood of trouble-free post operative recovery of the patient.

Premium components and an ergonomic, light weight design combine to create a compact, yet powerful desktop laser unit. Easy-to-use controls and a highly visible color touch screen provide an intelligent, self explanatory user interface. Air cooled, all-solid-state-technology, coupled with an automatic fibre recognition system, ensures smooth operation and minimal maintenance.
